Separett Waterless Toilets

Separett Waterless Toilets offer a range of
simple, effective and affordable compost toilet systems

All things considered Separett Waterless Toilets demonstrate great attention to detail, but they are simple and effective because the primary
considerations are taken into account
* Dry compost system / urine separation
* Ventilation / Aeration

Operation of the Villa 9000 and 9010
Lift the lid
Sit down - on sitting the switch under the seat opens the view screen, (when standing the view screen is closed), it is vital that you sit down in order
for the urine separation to work.
When you sit down a simple ratchet mechanism rotates the solids bucket in order to prevent peaking.
On standing the view screen will close you the lower the lid - Job Done!

Liquids
The urine is directed towards the urine separator at the front of the toilet, the liquids are drained away along the 2 meter hose to a soak away, grey
water waste pipe or container of your choice.
Separett offer the EjektorTank which dilutes the urine for use on the garden.
Urine is an excellent compost activator or can be used as a liquid plant feed if diluted 8 parts water to 1 part urine.
Separett produce the BioDrain enzyme tablets. A tablet is placed in to the mouth of the urine separator and prevents the build up of any residue,
bacteria, smells etc.
Alternatively a solution of water with tea tree oil can be used to flush down the separator occasionally (be sure that it does not pollute the solids area).
The liquid container needs to be at a lower level than the toilet.
We can offer a ‘Waste Warrior’ (40 litre capacity) and other possible urine containers. The ‘Waste Warrior’ can be snuggly fitted into a step built
underneath the Villa and emptied as required.

Solids
The solids land in the solids land in the bin which can be emptied as often as desired.
The solids container can be lined with biodegradable bags or even newspaper and the contents can safely be composted in a suitable composting system.
It is important that the solids are kept as dry as possible whilst in the toilet.
This is aided by the use of toilet paper, this can be further aided by the addition of a sprinkling of multipurpose compost, leaf mould, sawdust, wood chip,
shredded paper, hay or straw but this is not necessary.
Separett also produce the Absorb tissues which are designed to absorb any excess moisture.

Ventilation
Both models of Villa have an integrated fan designed for low energy consumption.

For applications where there is no mains (240V) electricity the 9010 has a 12 volt fan.
This fan can be powered from an existing 12 volt supply or there are alternative options for ventilation: -
* a solar panel charging a 12v deep cycle leisure battery which then powers the fan.
* a standard mushroom vent
* a passive air vent (works only when the wind blows)
* a passive solar vent
* a day and night solar vent with integrated batteries, harnessing the power when the sun is up so it still works in the dark!

Villa comes complete with:

Solar Panel & / or Deep Cycle Leisure battery
(an 85 Ah battery would last about 7 days without solar and will then need recharging)

The above ancillaries are a matter of requirements for particular applications or personal preference.

Privy 500 / 501
The principal is the same, but the Privy is designed for self builds and DIY projects.
Complete with toilet seat, lid and separation unit, and one roll of bags.
This toilet can be built in to a closet / cabinet type construction to your own specifications.
The 500 has an insulated seat, meaning it is made from treated polystyrene and works well on cold days but is quite fragile if not used in a respectful way.
The 501 has a more robust white plastic seat, much like an ordinary loo seat.
Both the 500 & 501 models do not contain the view screen mechanism and would still require some sort of ventilation.

Ventillation can be acheived by painting the extruding part of the vent pipe black thus creating draw.
